English 102 is
designed to further your communication skills needed for success both inside and outside
the college classroom--by focusing on critical reading, thinking, and writing. In my class
we do this by studying the evolution of cultural stories. By entering into the on-going
academic conversations about literature, fairy tale, and film, new ideas can be found that
both reinforce and change our own--and consequently demand a deeper critical
analysis of our conflicted world and our own role within it. You will be asked to
summarize, critique, and synthesize the writings of others, discover your own position
within the debates, and construct convincing arguments that bring healing and hope for
ourselves and others. |
